In our lesson together we learned that:

  • Baptism makes us members of the Church, God’s family on earth, and citizens of His Kingdom. We are welcomed into the church, which is the community of believers that grows and supports one another. When you’re baptized, you’re never alone—you have God and the Church with you!
  • In Baptism, we receive the Holy Spirit, who fills us with God’s grace. Grace is like a special superpower (a gift) which God gives us that gives us the strength to follow Jesus every day and resist sin. The Holy Spirit is always there to guide you, like a helper and friend!
  • This is done by anointing with chrism (holy oil), which is a sign of being chosen and strengthened by the Holy Spirit.
  • When we are baptized, all the sin we were born with is washed away, and we are made clean. It’s like when you wash your hands before eating—you’re preparing yourself for something good.
