For our second at large Diving Deeper activity. We are going to focus on Spiritual Communion.
During this lockdown, we cannot receive communion like we normally do due to restrictions. Receiving communion on a regular basis is an important part of our christian life. It brings us closer to Jesus & feeds our soul. In the meantime, until we can receive communion on a regular basis, Fr.Joy leads us in a Prayer of Spiritual Communion. We can say this prayer whenever we are not able to receive communion.
The activity this week is to have your own copy of the spiritual communion prayer ready with you so the family can pray it during the moment we would normally receive communion. We are inviting you to print out the images, decorate it & glue it to firm construction paper.
There are 3 options the children can choose from
Print page 1 of the PDF. Decorate & colour the spiritual communion prayer & glue it to firm backing.
Print out page 2-4 & decorate their tabernacle
(A tabernacle is a beautifully decorated box in a church that is often placed in the santuracy of a church near the altar. Blessed Communion hosts are kept in the tabernacle)
We then invite you to glue the door to their tabernacle on their sheet which can be found on page 4.
Print pages 5 & 6. It is already decorated. All you need to do is print it & glue the door of the tabernacle.
Please see this link as it shows you how to complete the activity https://www.catholicicing.com/spiritual-communion-for-kids/
If you do not have a printer, please note that I invite your child to create their own template with the prayer written on it by hand.
Once it is complete upload an image of your spiritual communion prayer on this link:
