On Sunday, January 26th, 2025, the Church will celebrate the sixth annual Sunday of the Word of God, a day established by Pope Francis to emphasize the importance of Sacred Scripture in our lives. This year’s theme, drawn from Psalm 119, is “I hope in Your Word.”

Why Celebrate Word of God Sunday?

This special day invites us to embrace the transformative power of Scripture. Pope Francis encourages all of us to recognize the significance of reading the Bible, both privately and during the Eucharistic celebration. Through God’s Word, we find strength, hope, and guidance.

How Can Your Family Participate?

We are inviting families to engage with the Scriptures and participate in a creative activity to celebrate Word of God Sunday.

Reflect on Your Assigned Verse:

Each group has a special Bible verse to focus on:

  • Nazareth: Genesis 1:31 - "God saw all that he had made, and it was very good."
  • Bethlehem: John 13:34 - "I give you a new commandment: Love one another as I have loved you."
  • Emmaus: Matthew 4:19 - "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men."
  • Galilee: Proverbs 3:5 - "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding."
  • Jerusalem: Jeremiah 29:11 - "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope."
  • Upper Room: Hebrews 4:12 - "Indeed, the word of God is living and effective, sharper than any two-edged sword."
