All Saints’ Day

On the Feast of All Saints (or All Saints’ Day), commemorates all those who have died and are now in Heaven. The Solemnity of All Saints takes place on November 1st

What is a saint?

The word saint comes from the Latin word 'sanctus' meaning 'holy'. A saint is someone who has proven himself or herself to be good and holy by following God's teachings, helped others and has entered the kingdom of heaven. A saint is good friend of God.

On All Saints' Day, we celebrate all saints who are in heaven. These include all known Saints like St.Joseph and unknown saints. Everyone is called to be saint & a close friend of God. It is not just for some people.

All Hallows’ Eve

The day before All Saints’ Day is Halloween.  Is there a connection between these two celebrations?  Actually, there is but the religious origins of Halloween have largely been forgotten.  Halloween is derived from Hallows’ Eve or Hallowmas, which means The Eve of All Saints.  The modern term of Halloween was derived from a way of saying All Saints Eve – just as we say Christmas Eve.

Activity Sheet - We can ask the saints for help!

Did you know we can pray to the saints in heaven to help us ? On your Litany of Saints activity sheet you need to find 8 saints you can pray to to ask for help.

Ask your grandparents, parents & you can even search on google for Saints that you can pray too.

Once you are done, you can decorate your sheet & put it in a special place where you can pray to these saints.
