Lent Calendar:

Start counting down the days till Easter with the Lent calendar in the Diving Deeper page. The children can decorate their calendar by colouring it.

They can take a look at the example to get guidance.  Click here.

The important thing is that families & children learn about Lent. It Is a nice way to countdown to Easter Sunday.

Lenten Planning

Lent is a time where we are called to refocus & grow closer to God. Here is an exercise that can be done as a family to decide how you will live Lent. You can find the Lenten Planner in your Diving Deeper package. Click here & will find the PDF version

Lent Planner Instructions

On the following page, you will find a Lent Planner activity.

Here are some ideas that will help you plan for Lent this year. Feel free to come up with your own ideas.

Praying :

For example:

  1.  Say Grace as a family before supper
  2. You can thank God in prayer for one thing that happened that day before going to bed as a family. Creating a prayer journal of gratitude can also be a similar option.
  3. Older children can say a decade of rosary everyday
  4. Reading a children’s bible story every night.

 Fasting:

  1. You can make a sacrifice and give up something that you enjoy doing, ex: playing video games or using a certain social media platform
  2. You can give up something that you like to eat, such as chips, candies, or chocolate

Almsgiving/Service

  1. Children can take on tasks to be done around the house. Taking on tasks they do not usually do that is age appropriate (I.e rendering a service to the family e.g. picking up toys, setting the table for dinner, making their bed etc.).
  2. Render a service to an elderly family member e.g. Calling a grandparent once a week.
  3. Make a donation for non-perishable food items to the Food Bank at church.
