Advent & the Advent Wreath

To learn about the season of Advent and the Advent Wreath.

You will watch an Advent video & create the Advent Wreath in the Diving Deeper Package

1) Read about Advent

2) Listen & sing an Advent song

3) Make the Advent Wreath

4) Submit a picture of your wreath & answer the questions.

What is Advent ?

Advent is the start of the church year. The word Advent comes from the Latin 'adventus,' which means 'coming' or 'arrival' to signify the birth of Jesus. Advent is a time for celebration; anticipating Christ's birth and looking forward to when Jesus will come again.

During Advent we are called to say extra prayers, be extra kinda to others & called to help others in need.

Advent lasts 4 weeks. Each Sunday of Advent we light a candle from the Advent wreath.

Advent Music

During Advent we can listen to Advent music. This song is call "O come,o come Emmanuel" The name Emmanuel means "God is with us"

Instructions for the Advent :

  1. Color in purple the three candles that have Hope, Peace and Love written on them.
  2. Color in pink the candle that has Joy written on it.
  3. Color the leaves of the advent wreath and the flames.
  4. Cut out all of the shapes and stick the leaves going around the circle disk.
  5. Fold along the dotted lines to make the candles stand and stick them on the circle disk.
  6. ‘Light’ the candles every week.
